Corn
Due to its later planting
dates, the corn crop missed most of the extreme spring temperatures
in Eastern Washington. Temperatures
were still cooler than normal, however. This pushed the start date of
Eastern Washington corn 10 days
later than expected; the normal mid-July start got pushed back until
the 25th. Early yields and quality are average.
Western Washington and Oregon corn
crops are facing similar delays.
This report will be updated when a more accurate start date
becomes available.
The corn crop may be
affected by end of season weather issues. The concern is that the
late start date pushes the end date further into October. The
possibility of frost that time of year could affect the overall
success of the crop.
